Description:
Design and engineer Fire & Gas detection systems and VESDA systems. Support Prebid, Design, and Engineering activities. Prepare Engineering deliverables, including Engineering BOM, Technical Writeup, Solution Architecture, FDS, and DDS. Ensure compliance with industrial standards and protocols. Collaborate with project teams to provide technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development

Design and develop fire alarm devices, gas detectors, flame detectors, control panels, and safety system components.

Create engineering designs including electrical schematics, PCB layouts, mechanical housings, and system architectures.

Develop prototypes and conduct design iterations to improve sensitivity, reliability, and long-term stability of sensors.
Sensor & System Integration

Integrate gas sensors (electrochemical, IR, catalytic bead, semiconductor), flame sensors (UV/IR, multi-spectrum), and smoke/heat detectors.

Collaborate with embedded software engineers to implement signal processing, calibration algorithms, and communication interfaces.

Select components that ensure long-term accuracy in harsh or hazardous environments.
Testing & Validation

Conduct engineering tests: environmental, vibration, thermal cycling, ingress protection (IP), EMC/EMI, and hazardous-area compliance.

Validate detection performance against industry standards (EN 54, EN 60079, NFPA, UL/FM, ATEX, IECEx).

Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design issues.
Documentation & Compliance

Prepare detailed technical documentation including design specifications, BOMs, test procedures, and reports.

Support certification processes (ATEX, IECEx, UL/FM, SIL/Functional Safety).

Document calibration methods and maintenance requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work with manufacturing teams to ensure design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) requirements are met.

Support supply chain teams in component selection, vendor evaluation, and quality assurance.

Collaborate with product managers to define technical requirements and product roadmaps.
