Description:
Electrical maintenance or engineering experience in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial plants. Experience with high-voltage systems (e.g., 11kV, 33kV) preferred. Strong background in process plant electrical systems, automation, and control systems. Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, VFDs, control circuits, and instrumentation systems. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Ability to lead teams and coordinate with multidisciplinary departments.Responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and improving electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure used in mining operations. Ensures all electrical installations meet safety standards, support reliable plant/mine performance, and comply with regulatory requirements. Electrical Maintenance & Operations: Supervise installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment within the mine or processing plant. Ensure reliable operation of HV/LV power distribution systems, motors, MCCs, VFDs, substations, transformers, switchgear, and plant instrumentation. Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and equipment diagnostics to minimize downtime. Oversee electrical work related to conveyors, crushers, pumps, mills, flotation systems, or other mineral processing equipment. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all electrical work adheres to mine safety regulations, national electrical codes, and company standards. Lead job safety analyses (JSA), risk assessments, and issue permits (LOTO, confined space, hot work, etc.). Train and enforce safe work practices among electricians and contractors. Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions. Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage and mentor a team of electricians, technicians, and contractors. Assign tasks, provide technical guidance, and support continuous skills development. Coordinate daily maintenance schedules and allocate resources effectively. Engineering & Project Work: Support electrical design, planning, and execution of new installations, plant expansions, and improvement projects. Review drawings, specifications, and equipment documentation. Recommend upgrades to improve reliability, efficiency, and energy usage. Assist with the commissioning of new electrical systems and automation upgrades. Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Diagnose complex electrical faults and develop solutions to minimise production impacts. Provide engineering support to operations, maintenance, and capital project teams. Interface with OEMs, vendors, and contractors to ensure proper equipment performance.
